Christmas is around the corner! One of the best food to prepare is Crispy Pata (Deep Fried Pork Hocks). This is one of the popular Filipino Delicacies that are served during Birthdays, Fiesta, Parties and other events. For me, a feast is not complete without this dish. The dish can be served as an appetizer, main course for lunch and dinner. Very easy to do and a true star of the table this coming Christmas Season.  Check recipe and instructions below:

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Clean Pork Hock in running water
  2. Roughly chop Onion and Garlic
  3. In a Large Pot place Pork Hock, Garlic, Onion, Bay Leaf, Star Anise, Salt and Pepper
  4. Fill the pot with Water and let it boil then simmer until tender.
  5. Cook time would vary depending on the size of the Pork Hock
  6. Put the Pork Hock in the freezer for at least a day (at least 1 to 2 hours if you need to serve it within the day
  7. Rub Garlic and Onion Powder before frying
  8. Deep fry until Crispy and Golden Brown
  9. For the dipping sauce, combine soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, chili pepper and onion
  10. Serve immediately to get the best out of the skin
  11. Best served with rice or partnered with beer
